VRTKIN, YOSEPH

(1876-1912)
Palestinian Zionist pioneer. He was born in Mogilev, Belorussia. In 1897 he went to Palestine, where he worked as a labourer, and later as a schoolteacher and headmaster. His writings include a number of pamphlets on pioneering, such asA Call to the Youth of Israel whose Hearts are with Their People and with ZionandA Group of Young People from Eretz Israel.
