GANS, EDUARD

(1798-1839)
German jurist and historian. Together withLeopold Zunzand Moses Mosher, he founded in 1819 the Society for Jewish Culture and Learning. In 1820 he was appointed a lecturer at the University of Berlin. He converted to Christianity in 1825 and became a professor at the university. He wrote studies of law, edited Hegel's lectures on the philosophy of history, and founded the journalJahrbucher fur Wissenschaftliche Kritik.
