WALDRON, CHARLES D.

(1874-1946)
A native of Waterford, New York, Charles D. Waldron debuted in 1898 and spent several seasons in stock before his first major New York appearance inThe Warrens of Virginia(1907). His long career, during which he made a seamless transition fromleading mantocharacteractor, included the title role inDaddy Long Legs(1914), as well asThe Woman in Room 13(1919),The Passion Flower(1920),A Bill of Divorcement(1921),Coquette(1927),The Barretts of Wimpole Street* (1931),The Pursuit of Happiness* (1933), andDeep Are the Roots* (1945). Waldron also played Claudius to Basil Sydney's Hamlet in 1925 and was Friar Laurence in the Katharine CornellRomeo and Julietdirected by Guthrie McClintic* in 1934.
