MARIJNEN, VICTOR GERARD

(1917–1975)

Politician. After his studies of law at the Roman CatholicUniversityof Nijmegen(now Radboud University), Marijnen worked in the Ministry of Agricul ture and Fisheries. In 1957, he was appointed secretary to the board of the Union of Catholic Employers. He was a member of the Katholieke Volkspartij(KVP, CatholicPeople’s Party) and in 1959 was appointed minister of agriculture. He headed the cabinet as prime minister from 1963 until 1965. In 1968, Marijnen became bur gomaster of The Hague.
