WIDOR, CHARLESMARIE

(21 February 1844, Lyons – 12 March 1937, Paris)
Organistat the prestigious St. Sulpice of Paris from 1870–1934, he studied with Jacques Lemmens (1823–1881) who traced his own pedagogical lineage directly toJohann Sebastian Bach. Widor is best known for his 10organsymphonies, published from 1876–1900. He also composed onemassand 10motets, often for double choir and largeinstrumentalensembles.
