A Danish diplomat with a passion for German theater, Baudissin, with Dorothea Tieck, translated 13Shakespeareplays into German, helping to complete the standardSchlegel-Tiecktranslations of Shakespeare for the stage. Baudissin also translated four volumes of Molière's works into stage German, along with several Gozzi and Goldoni comedies.
