Family of proteins (SOCS 1-3 and CIS; 211 amino acids) rapidly induced in response to IL-6 and other cytokines, thought to act as negative feedback regulator of JAKs in the intracellular signalling pathway. All contain a central SH2domain. Similar, possibly identical, to JAB and SSI-1.
