ZERUBBABEL

Zerubbabel: translation

(fl. 6th cent BCE)
Israelite leader, grandson ofJehoiachin. With the consent of Cyrus II of Persia, he returned to Judah from Babylon to help rebuild Jerusalem. Together with Joshua the priest, he set up an altar, re-establishing the festivals, and began the rebuilding of the Temple.
