VECINHO, JOSEPH

(fl. 15th cent.)
Portuguese scientist and physician. A pupil ofAbraham Zucato, he translated his teacher's astro-nomical tables (Almanach perpetuum) into Spanish. Together with Martin Behaim and the court physician Rodrigo, he participated in a commission investigating navigation. He was forcibly converted in 1497, adopting the name Diego Mendes Vecinho.
