ELDAD

Eldad: translation

(fl. 13th cent BCE)
Elder of Israel. He was one of the 70 Israelite elders appointed byMosesto aid him in governing the people (Numbers 11:16ff). He and Medad aroused the suspicion ofJoshuaby prophesying within the camp, but their conduct was approved byMoses(Numbers 11:26-29).
