FEFER, ITZIK

(1900-52)
Ukrainian Yiddish poet. He was born in Shpola. He made his debut as a Yiddish poet in 1920 and became prominent in Soviet Yiddish literature. The majority of his poems are propaganda for the communist party. He also wrote poetry about Birobidjan, the Jewish autonomous region in eastern Siberia. He was arrested in 1948 in the Stalinist anti-Jewish purges.
