TELL ERRATABA

Modern name for site on the eastern edge of the Delta in the Wadi Tumilat. Objects found here date from the First Intermediate Periodto Dynasty 23. There are the remains of a templeof Ramesses IIdedicated to the god Atum. The site is now identified with ancient Egyptian Pr-Itm, or Pithom, capital of the eighth nome of Lower Egypt. Tell er-Rataba was excavated by Henri Edouard Naville in 1894 and Flinders Petrie from 1905–1906.
