GERZEH

The modern name for a cemetery site northwest of Meidum. It was excavated by a British expedition in 1911. The cemetery comprised graves of the Predynastic Period with a few graves from the Early Dynastic Period and the New Kingdom. Flinders Petrie adoptedthe term Gerzeanto describe the culture, but it is recognized as a form of Naqada II culture from the south.
