Westerns in Cinema

WESTERN MOMENT

The historical period of the old West is nearly always seen in cinema Westerns as occurring after the Civil War and before the turn of the 20th century—the Western moment. Even when a film is set in later times, such as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid(1969), which tells of events occurring roughly from 1900–1908, it inevitably reminds one of the Western moment.
