Westerns in Cinema

TRIGGER TRIOS

Besides singing cowboy films of the 1930s and 1940s, another common B Western type was the Trigger Trio film. Several studios developed various series based on the exploits of a trio of heroes with equal billing. Probably the most famous Trigger Trio was Republic’s Three Mesquiteers. Monogram developed the Rough Riders, the Range Busters, and the Trail Blazers. PRC produced the Frontier Marshals series from 1942 to 1947, with Lee Powell, William Boyd, and Art Davis, and the Texas Ranger series from 1942 to 1944 with Dave O’Brien, James Newill, and Guy Wilkerson.
