Westerns in Cinema

BARCROFT, ROY

(1902–1969)
Born Howard Harold Ravenscroft, Roy Barcroft appeared in over 300 films for Republic between 1937 and 1957. In each film, the hefty actor usually sported a dark mustache and wore the typical dark hat of the bad guy. Virtually all his films were low-budget Westerns and serials. After his B Western days, Barcroft found work in television Westerns and feature films. His best work was some of his last—Bandolero! (1968) and Monte Walsh (1970).
