GUADAGNINI, LORENZO

1), Cremona, 1690 to 1720. Pupil of Stradiuarius and highly esteemed as a maker. Followed the style of his celebrated teacher.
Guadagnini is one of the makers especially recommended by Spohr when one of the three great masters cannot be procured. A good specimen of his work will always command a good price.
2), Placentia and Milan, 1742. Made instruments generally of the smaller model. Was a careful workman and finished his instruments well, and used good varnish.
