Established in 1913 by actressMary Shawas a theatrical women's organization with the main goal of promoting woman suffrage, the League membership included several stars, among themMargaret Anglin, Billie Burke, and Jane Cowl.Lotta Crabtreewas vice president. Members gave curtain speeches in favor of a woman's right to vote and dispensed literature and organized consciousness-raising activities. The League continued until women were enfranchised.
