The imperiously beautiful British actress (born Beatrice Stella Tanner) made the first of her frequent American tours in 1902, managed byLiebler& Co., and with arepertoirein which she played women of questionable reputation, notablyMagda, The Notorious Mrs. Ebbsmith, andThe Second Mrs. Tanqueray. After her New Yorkengagementof 1933, she went into motion pictures and taught speech to early "talkie" actors, including Colleen Moore.
