WALDEN POND

In his chief work, which is subtitled "Life in the Woods", Henry David Thoreau tells of his simple, healthy hermitlike life on the shores of Walden Pond, near Concord, Mass., where he built himself a hut, cultivated a garden and lived for years on an annual outlay of eight dollars. The book is noted for its descriptions of nature.
