SHIGARAMI ZOSHI

Shigarami Zoshi (The Weir), a literary journal founded by such intellectuals, as Mori Ogai in 1889, saw wide distribution until Mori’s departure to the Sino-Japanese front in 1894. The journal, with its large distribution, sought to revitalize Japanese literature with particular emphasis on naturalism and Romanticism.
