WILTON, BARTEL

(1828–1898)
Industrialist; member of a family of smiths in Rotterdam. Wilton specialized in repairing ships. To gether with his sons, in 1895 he founded an engineering works and shipyard at Schiedam (near Rotterdam). In 1929, the firm merged with the shipyard Feyenoord, founded by Gerhard Roentgen.
