TINBERGEN, Nikolaas: translation

(1907–1988)
Biologist. Tinbergen stud ied biology in Leiden, where he organized research in the new field of behavioral biology, cooperating with German scientist Konrad Lorenz. In 1949, Tinbergen immigrated to Great Britain, where he was appointed lecturer, and later professor, of ethology at Oxford University. In 1973, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for physiology and medicine, together with Karl von Frisch and Konrad Lorenz.
