NEDERLANDSCHE UNIE

(NU; NETHERLANDS UNION)
World War II political movement founded in July 1940, after the German occupation in May, by a driemanschap (triumvirate) aim ing at cooperation between Dutch and German authorities to create a national mass movement. The triumvirate hoped to join forces and thereby achieve a more harmonious and just economicand social or der. The German authorities tolerated the Nederlandsche Unie only until the end of 1941 when it was dissolved. Its weekly magazine was called De Unie [The Union].
