KOSSMANN, ERNST HEINRICH

(1922–2003)

Historian and pro fessor of modern history at the Universityof Groningen. Along with his many publications about political theory, Kossmann published The Low Countries (1978), a history of both the Netherlands and Belgium in the last two centuries. He was the twin brother of author Alfred Kossmann (1922–1998). During World War II, they were picked up by the Nazis and sent to work in Germany.
