Zoroastrianism: translation

Zoroastrianism was the dominant, pre-Islamicreligionof both the Achaemenid (550-330 BCE) and Sassanid (226-650 CE)Persian empires. The religion undoubtedly exerted a powerful influence on the indigenous Kurdish religion of theCult of Angels. Some have also speculated that the usage of fire in the KurdishNewrozcelebration stems from the special veneration shown to fire as a purification ritual in Zoroastrianism.
