ZIBARI, HOSHYAR

Zibari is a longtime member of the politburo of theKurdistan Democratic Party(KDP) and was often the major spokesman for the KDP on foreign affairs. He is the uncle ofMassoud Barzani, the leader of the KDP, and also speaks excellent English, as he holds a masters degree in sociology from the University of Essex inGreat Britain. During the 1990s, he represented the KDP in Great Britain. Since September 2003, he has been serving as Iraq's foreign minister, first on an interim basis and since May 2006 in a permanent capacity.
