A member of the Left Party fromGermany, Feleknas Uca was also a member of the European Parliament (MEP) of theEuropean Union(EU) from 1999 to 2009. In this role, she maintained close links with far left groups inTurkey, particularly Kurdishnationalistones. She was also a member of the EU-Turkey joint parliamentary committee. Until recently she was the world's onlyYezidielected to a legislature. However, three Yezidis were elected to theIraqiParliament in 2005.
