SHILLET

The Shillet and Chokhsor were two powerfultribalconfederations in theemirateofBotanin what is now southeasternTurkey. With the demise of Botan as an emirate in 1847, both confederations quickly fell apart. The Miran tribe from the Chokhsor confederation came to dominate the others for a period of time,Mustafa Pasha of the Miranin the 1890s being a prime example. The Shillet confederation was composed of the Batuan, Kichan, Teyyan, Kherikan, and Musereshan tribes.
