SARLIYYA

The Sarliyya, or Sarlis, are a small group of KurdishAhl-i Haqq(Kakais) living in northernIraqin six villages close to where the Great Zab River meets the Tigris River and approximately 45 kilometers southeast ofMosul. Like theYezidis,Shabaks, andBadjwan, the Sarliyya are very secretive about theirreligion. Therefore, some have accused them of scandalous rites and a sort of secret language of their own. Actually, the Sarliyya speak a Gurani dialect.
