KORKMAZ, MAZLUM (MAHSUN)

Mazlum Korkmaz was the first commander of theEniye Rizgariye Navata Kurdistan(ERNK), orKurdistan National Liberation Front, which was created in March 1985 as a popular front and propaganda division of theKurdistan Workers Party(PKK). At the time Korkmaz was described by many as being second in command toAbdullah Ocalan, the leader of the PKK. Following Korkmaz's death in action in 1986, the PKK's main training camp in theBekaa ValleyinLebanonwas named for him.
