KHALID BEG OF THE JIBRAN

Khalid Beg of the Jibrantribewas a key leader ofAzadi, the clandestine Kurdish organization inTurkeythat planned theSheikh Saiduprising in 1925. Although the son of a tribal chief, Khalid Beg was a Kurdishnationalist, probably due to his urban education in the military school for theHamidiye. He was a colonel in the regular army and held the respect of most of the tribal militia commanders. He was arrested at the start of the uprising and executed along with his colleagueYusuf Ziya Begin his prison cell.
