BUCAK, FAIK

(?-1966)
Bucak was a Turkish Kurdish lawyer from Urfa inTurkeywho headed theKurdistan Democratic Party of Turkey(KDPT). He was murdered in 1966 (probably by police agents), and his party split into two hostile factions. Both fled toIraqiKurdistan, where under circumstances that remain obscure, both of the new leaders (Dr. Shivan[Sait Kirmizitoprak] andSe-rafettin Elci) were killed and their organizations eliminated. Some say thatMulla Mustafa Barzaniexecuted Shivan for killing Elci, while others say that it was the work of theMilli Istihbarat Teshilati(MIT), or Turkish National Intelligence Organization.
