ANNAZIDS

The Annazids were a Kurdish dynasty that flourished from 991 to 1117 in the frontier regions betweenIraqandIran. They existed along with numerous other principalities of Iranian origin during the period of theBuwayhids(Buyids). Abu al-Fath Muhammad bin Annaz established the dynasty and ruled in Hulwan, situated at the beginning of the pass leading up to the Iranian plateau.
The Arabic names and titles of most of the Annazids indicated their Arab links. The Annazids were semi-nomadic, living in tents but also possessing fortified settled areas for protection.
