Born in Manchester, United Kingdom, Williamson was educated atCentral Saint Martins College of Art and Designin London. He debuted his collection Electric Angels, in 1997, during London Fashion Week and managed to get Kate Moss, Helena Christensen, and Jade Jagger to model for him. Known for exquisite embroideries and beading, Williamson designedwom-enswear,menswear, babywear, andlifestylecollections. He maintains two stores in London and launched afragrancecalled Matthew Williamson, in 2005. Williamson replacedChristian Lacroixas artistic director atEmilio Pucciand showed his first collection for it in 2006.
