U.S. CENSUS BUREAU

A U.S. government institution dating from the first population census taken in the early 1600s. In 1810, the census expanded to include statistics on manufacturing, quantity and value of products, and, in 1902, the Census Bureau became a permanent institution by an act of Congress. Today the U.S. Census Bureau, through its surveys, reports statistical data not only on the fashion industry but many other areas of goods and services.
