Born in New York and educated at theFashion Institute of Technology, Nolan apprenticed atBill BlassandChristian Diorbefore joiningEllen Tracyin 1990 as chief designer. He left Ellen Tracy in 2001 to help pull theAnne Kleinlabel out of bankruptcy. Nolan left Anne Klein in 2003 and opened his ownboutiquein the Meatpacking district in New York City, designing and selling an eclectic range of merchandise—from his own women's designer high-end clothing to antique furniture, jewelry, books, and handbags.
