International Confederation of Free Trade Unions: translation

(ICFTU)
An internationaltrade unionformed in 1949 following a split within the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) as a result of alleged Communist domination. Members included the major unions from the United States, Great Britain, France, Italy, and Spain. New members from developing countries in Asia, Africa, and, after the fall of Communism, Eastern block nations were recruited as production in these regions increased while developed countries were experiencing a decrease. In 2006, the ICFTU was dissolved when it merged with theInternational Trade Union Confederation(ITUC).
