GIRBAUD, MARITHÉ AND FRANÇOIS

Born in 1942 and 1945, respectively, the Girbauds met in Paris in the early 1960s; this couple shared the dream of becoming Americandesigners. They opened their firstboutiquein 1962 and introduced the world to fadeddenimin 1963. Intrigued by textile development, they maintain a proactive approach to exploring new techniques. In 1984, they introduced the cargo pocket, which soon became a design staple.
