ELBAZ, ALBER

(1961- )
Israeli-born Elbaz studied fashion at Shen-kar College of Engineering and Design in Israel before moving to the United States. After a short stint designing bridalwear, Elbaz spent seven years designing alongsideGeoffrey Beene. Upon leaving Beene, he went to work at Guy Laroche, and then did a short run atYves Saint Laurentbefore being ousted in 2000 by the new owner,Gucci. In 2001, he was hired ascreative directorat the house ofLanvin. He is a master of detail and is known for his modern take on couture.
