A group organized by couture designerCharles Frederick Worthin 1868 for the purpose of dealing with issues relating to the manufacture ofhaute couture. Much in the tradition of the medievalguildconcept, this organization tried to preserve the integrity of the haute couture and created a lobby that could protect the rights and interests ofmade-to-measureclothing and its workers and could differentiate them from those ofready-to-wear. In 1910, the name was changed toChambre Syndicale de la haute couture parisienne.
