GORI, ANTON FRANCESCO

(1691–1757)
An early Etruscan scholar, in succession to Filippo Buonarroti, who worked through the Societa Columbaria of Florence, founded in 1735. He remained an antiquarian interested principally in finds from Tuscany, but developed a more systematic approach than many of his contemporaries, although oblivious to some forgeries.
