GAMES, FUNERARY (SPETTACOLI)

Funerary games were frequently represented in paintings on tomb walls (such as the tombs of the Olimpiade [Olympics], Bighe [two-wheeled chariots], Auguri [augurs] at Tarquinia, and the tomb of the Scimmia [monkey] at Chiusi) and on stone reliefs. The games consisted of chariot and horse races and various forms of athletics, often accompanied by various forms of dance and music.
