BROCK, SIR ISAAC

(1769–1812)
A British army officer noted for his defense of Canada against the United States, culminating in his death on the battlefield in 1812. He was rewarded with a supposedly Etruscan column over his mausoleum constructed in 1824 at Queenstown, but it was blown up by a disaffected Irishman in 1840.
