ANNIUS OF VITERBO

(1432?–1502)
A Dominican monk considered the first Etruscologist or specialist in Etruscan studies. From 1488, he dedicated himself to the study of local antiquities, published in 16 volumes as Antiquitates. His antiquities included forgeries and his interpretations of Etruscan origins, such as descent from Noah.
