A DaurMongolwho is the manager of the Mongolia and Inner Asia Studies Unit at Cambridge University. His collaboration withCaroline Humphreyin recording and discussing his people’s changing culture, in which shamans andeldersledclansin particular ways, is among the most important recent studies of shamanism. It is one of the few studies that interprets shamans not only in a religious frame but also, more significantly, in apoliticaland social one.
