In addition to collecting sound recordings ofMongolianfolk singing andmusicalinstruments (e.g.,The Music of the Mongols, 1943) during his five expeditions toCentral Asia, Haslund-Christensen was a founder of the Danish Expedition Foundation (1945) and provided valuable ethnographic information on Mongolian shamanism in his classic of travel literature,Mongolian Adventure:1920s Danger and Escapeamong the Mounted Nomads of Central Asia(2001).
