Kapellmeisterat the imperial court in Vienna (1715– death). His theory book,Gradus ad Parnassum, summarizing thestile anticoof classicalpolyphony, became a standard text for traditional church composition until the 20th century. He composed over 600 works including 14oratoriosand about 80masses. (at)
