QĪRA’A

Cantillationof the Qur’ān by aqāri(cantor), one of the two forms of compulsory mosque music. The language is Arabic. It may be done by a layperson in plain style (muratta), usually for private devotion, or in an embellished, learned style (mujawwad) by a highly trained professional, usually at a public event.
