PINKHAM, DANIEL

(5 June 1923, Lynn, Mass.)
After studying composition with Walter Piston, Paul Hindemith,Arthur Honegger, Nadia Boulanger, harpsichord with Wanda Landowska, andorganwith E. Power Biggs, he became music director at King’s Chapel in Boston in 1958 and joined the faculty at the New England Conservatory in 1959. He has composed many sacred works for choir with various accompaniments, includingpsalms, fourcantatas, aRequiem(1963), aStabat mater(1964), theSt.MarkPassion(1965), and a sacredoperaThe Passion of Judas(1976). He has also composed many works for organ solo and organ withinstrumentsobbligato.
